A Holistic, Individualized Approach
No two people experience challenges in the same way, which is why I take a whole-person approach—considering your past, present, and future, as well as your physical, social, and mental well-being. I draw from evidence-based methods, including Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Jungian Analytical Depth Psychology.
I also integrate insights from martial arts and movement-based practices, helping clients develop resilience not just in their thoughts, but in their body and daily life. This approach allows for deep, lasting change—clearing barriers that hold you back and helping you reach your full potential.
Dane Nielsen, MA, LMHC, LPC, CADC
I have earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martin’s University College of Education and Counseling. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oregon and Pennsylvania, and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in Oregon.
My experience spans university counseling centers, outpatient mental health clinics, residential treatment for at-risk youth, inpatient chemical dependency programs, and private practice. Each of these settings has deepened my understanding of the unique challenges individuals face, from navigating anxiety and life transitions to rebuilding relationships and managing stress.
Beyond my formal education, I incorporate insights from ongoing professional training, personal study, and my background as a martial arts instructor. My training is in a soft, holistic style of martial arts that emphasizes mindfulness, breathwork, and body awareness. This approach fosters both mental and physical resilience, teaching balance, adaptability, and emotional regulation—skills that translate directly into the therapeutic process.
I believe in therapy that is practical, individualized, and focused on real change. My goal is to create a space where clients feel supported, challenged, and equipped with the tools they need to move forward with confidence.

Investment & Insurance
Investing in Your Well-Being—Flexibility, Privacy & Quality Care
I’ve structured my practice to provide personalized, flexible, and private therapy without the restrictions that often come with insurance-based care. This means:
• A therapy plan tailored to you—not dictated by insurance requirements.
• Greater privacy—your mental health records stay between us, not shared with insurance companies.
• Consistency in care—you will always work with the same therapist, ensuring a strong and continuous therapeutic relationship.
• Shorter wait times—get the help you need without unnecessary delays.
To maintain this level of individualized care, my practice does not bill insurance directly. However, I provide insurance reimbursement paperwork (superbills), which allows you to submit claims to your insurance provider and potentially receive partial or full reimbursement for your sessions. Many providers—including Providence, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), MODA, CIGNA, and United Healthcare (UHC)—offer out-of-network benefits. This process is simple and typically just involves submitting a monthly statement/form to your provider.
I also accept HSA/FSA cards for payment, making it easier to use pre-tax dollars for your mental health care. Additionally, I provide a Good Faith Estimate so you have full transparency on the costs of treatment upfront.
If you have any questions about payment options or insurance reimbursement, I’m happy to walk you through the process!
Consultation
Finding the right therapist is important, and I want to ensure that we’re a good fit—whether you’re seeking therapy for yourself or your teen. To make this process easier, I offer a brief initial phone consultation, where you can ask questions about my approach, the therapy process, and what to expect.
If you’re interested in working together, fill out the form below, and I’ll personally reach out on my next workday. I look forward to connecting with you.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
